Nigeria international Bruno Onyemaechi is one step away from securing the first major trophy of his career after helping Olympiakos book a place in the Greek Cup final, Footynaija.com reports.

The Super Eagles left-back played the full 90 minutes as Olympiakos advanced despite a 2-0 defeat to AEK Athens in the second leg of their semi-final at the OPAP Arena on Wednesday.

However, the damage had already been done in the first leg, where Olympiakos secured a commanding 6-0 victory at the Stadio Georgios Karaiskáki in Piraeus. Onyemaechi was ever-present in that match as well, ensuring his side progressed with an emphatic 6-2 aggregate win.

Olympiakos will now face OFI in the Greek Cup final on May 16 at the Olympiako Stadio Spyros Louis in Athens. OFI secured their place after edging past Asteras Tripolis — featuring Nigerian defender Oluwatobiloba Adefunyibomi — 2-1 on aggregate.

Victory in the final would mark Onyemaechi’s first career trophy. The 25-year-old, who joined Olympiakos from Boavista in January for €2.5 million, has previously played for Vila Real and Feirense.

The closest he has come to silverware was at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where he helped Nigeria reach the final. However, the Super Eagles fell short, losing to hosts Côte d’Ivoire.
