Igoh Ogbu and David Moses have joined the growing list of Nigerian footballers to win silverware in Europe after helping Slavia Prague clinch the Czech First League title on Saturday, Footynaija.com reports.

After finishing second to Sparta Prague last season, Slavia returned to the summit with a dominant 5-0 win over Sigma Olomouc at the Andrův Stadion.

It is the club’s first league triumph since 2021, their eighth Czech First League crown, and their 22nd overall league title since their founding in 1892.

Nigerian centre-back Ogbu played the full 90 minutes, contributing to a clean sheet in a commanding display. The 25-year-old, who has made 22 league appearances this campaign and scored twice, proved instrumental in Slavia’s charge to the title.

His compatriot, 21-year-old David Moses, entered the fray for the final 20 minutes, making his 11th league appearance since joining Slavia from Karviná in January.

It was a particularly special moment for Moses, who celebrated winning the Czech top flight exactly four months after signing for the Prague giants. It also marks the second league title of his young career, having previously lifted the Czech second-tier crown with Karviná.

For Ogbu, it is the second major trophy since arriving at Slavia from Norwegian side Lillestrøm in early 2023, adding to the Czech Cup he won two years ago. Overall, it is the fourth senior honour of his career, following earlier successes with Norway’s Rosenborg, where he lifted both the Eliteserien and NM Cupen in 2018.

Having earned a first Nigeria call-up during the last international break — although he did not debut against Rwanda or Zimbabwe — Ogbu will now be keen to translate his club form into full international recognition.
