Nigeria’s Flying Eagles will remain in Cairo for the group stage of the 2025 CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) confirmed match dates, venues, and kick-off times for the tournament in Egypt, Footynaija.com reports.

The 17th edition of Africa’s premier youth competition will run from 27 April to 18 May 2025 across three host cities: Cairo, Ismailia, and Suez. A total of 13 nations will battle for continental supremacy, with the top four teams securing qualification for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile later in the year.

Aliyu Zubairu’s Flying Eagles, who have won the tournament a record seven times, have been drawn in Group B alongside Tunisia, Morocco, and Kenya. All three of Nigeria’s group matches will be played at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo.

The team’s campaign begins on Thursday, May 1, with a clash against Tunisia at 18:00 (local time). Later that evening, Morocco will face Kenya at 21:00 at the same venue.

Host nation Egypt will open the tournament on Sunday, April 27, when they take on Zambia at 21:00 at the Cairo International Stadium. Earlier that day, Sierra Leone will meet South Africa in Ismailia at 18:00.

Defending champions Senegal start their title defence in Suez on May 2, with a Group C encounter against the Central African Republic at 18:00. DR Congo and Ghana will follow at 21:00 at the same venue.

CAF confirmed that the top two teams from each of the three groups, along with the two best third-placed sides, will advance to the quarter-finals.
