Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen hopes that Galatasaray’s victory over Fenerbahce in the Turkiye Kupasi will be a form of compensation for their fans after suffering defeat in their previous game, Footynaija.com reports.
Osimhen and Galatasaray went into the Cup clash against arch rivals Fenerbahce seeking to bounce back from their disappointing 2-1 defeat to Besiktas Istanbul in the Super Lig last week Saturday and to the delight of their fans, they did just that.
The highly prolific Nigerian striker had perhaps his worst performance in a Gala shirt during that Besiktas defeat but he cast all of that behind to fire the Super Lig leaders past their closest rivals and a semi-final berth.

Speaking after the win, the 25-year-old expressed his delight with the win, revealing that making the fans happy was enough motivation for Wednesday’s performance.
“We know that Galatasaray – Fenerbahçe matches are intense and difficult matches,” Osimhen said in quotes revealed by Galatasaray.org.
“It is necessary to focus from the first minute to the ninetieth minute. We were actually optimistic when we came. Unfortunately, we made our fans unhappy last week.
“We had to play well here to compensate for them. Now we will look at the upcoming matches and progress match by match.”
The Nigeria international also went on to reiterate his commitment to the Turkish giants and their fans while lauding his teammates for their support.
“As I have said in previous interviews, I have really loved this club since I came here, I loved the people here, I loved the fans,” he continued.
“I want to reciprocate their love by working hard. My teammates are also very important to me. They always support me.
“Of course, scoring a goal in the derby was important. If my teammates had not done very important things, I would not have been able to score those goals.
“I am grateful to them in this regard. I want to continue my performance. I want to do everything I can for the team.”
