Biography

Henry Chukwuemeka Onyekuru was born on June 5, 1997, in Onitsha, Anambra State, Nigeria. Even though he is from the Igbo ethnic group, he grew up in Lagos, where his football journey began. Like many Nigerian kids, he played football in the streets and quickly stood out with his speed and dribbling skills.

He joined the Aspire Academy in Qatar at a young age and developed his game there before moving to Europe. In 2015, Onyekuru signed for Belgian side K.A.S. Eupen. He made a name for himself with his goals and pace on the wing, becoming one of the most talked-about young players in Belgium.

His top form earned him a big move to English club Everton in 2017. But due to work permit issues, he did not play any games for the Premier League side. Instead, he went on loan to Anderlecht in Belgium and later to Galatasaray in Turkey, where he helped them win the league title and Turkish Cup in the 2018-2019 season.

Onyekuru later joined French club AS Monaco in 2019 but had more loan spells, including another return to Galatasaray. In 2021, he moved to Greek giants Olympiacos, and then to Turkish side Adana Demirspor.

In 2023, he signed for Al-Fayha in the Saudi Pro League, where he continues to play as a winger.

Career Stats

Onyekuru has enjoyed a lively career across different leagues in Europe and beyond, showing his pace and eye for goal at every club he has played for.

Eupen – 60 appearances (30G, 6A)

Anderlecht – 28 appearances (10G, 0A)

Galatasaray – 71 appearances (22G, 12A)

Monaco – 8 appearances (0G, 2A)

Olympiacos – 27 appearances (1G, 1A)

Adana Demirspor – 30 appearances (8G, 3A)

Al-Fayha – 38 appearances (11G, 3A)

Nigeria – 15 appearances (1G, 2A)

Current Stats

Onyekuru has made 4 appearances for Al Fayha this season, but he is yet to register any goals or assists. The winger will be looking to find his form and contribute more in the upcoming matches.

Salary

Henry Onyekuru reportedly earns €4.2 million annually at Al Fayha FC, which breaks down to €349,844 per month, €80,733 per week, and €11,533 per day. Onyekuru signed with Al Fayha FC in the summer of 2023, with a contract running until June 2025.

Net Worth and Market Value

Henry Onyekuru’s exact net worth is not publicly available. According to Transfermarkt, Onyekuru’s current market value is estimated at €4 million. These figures reflect his solid position in the football world and his earning power at the Saudi Arabian club.

Family, Girlfriend and Kids

While details about Onyekuru’s father are not widely known, his mother, Jessy Onyekuru, played a significant role in his life. Sadly, she passed away in April 2021. His name, “Henry,” was inspired by the legendary Nigerian footballer Henry Nwosu, who won the Africa Cup of Nations in 1980.

Henry Onyekuru’s wife is Estelle Onyekuru, a well-known influencer and entrepreneur. The couple has been together for a long time, having met in Belgium back in 2015. They got married in 2019 after Henry helped Nigeria secure the bronze medal at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Estelle has built a strong presence on social media, particularly on Instagram. Known for her fashion-forward style, she is often recognised as one of the most stylish WAGs (wives and girlfriends of athletes) in Nigerian football. She shares photos of her travels across Europe and Asia, often alongside Henry during his football season.

Together, they have three children: a son born in December 2018, a daughter born in January 2020, and another son born in November 2022. The couple’s children are often featured in Henry’s social media posts, sharing glimpses of their family life.

Onyekuru Transfer News

Henry Onyekuru’s current contract with Al-Fayha runs until June 2025, and there have been no reports about the club renewing it.

Onyekuru could be exploring his options in Europe, with Ligue 1 club Toulouse reportedly interested in securing his services. The French side is said to be offering a three-year deal, with an option for a fourth season. This potential move comes after Onyekuru’s limited playing time at Al-Fayha, where he has made just four appearances this season.
