Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team have booked their place in the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup after holding Algeria to a goalless draw in the second leg of their final qualifying round, Footynaija.com reports.

The Flamingos went into Friday’s game at the Stade Mustapha Tchaker in Blida in firm control of the tie after securing a handsome 4-0 win over Algeria in the first leg which took place at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.

They carried that momentum into the second leg and looked the better of the two sides for large parts of the game. Bankole Olowookere’s side created the majority of the chances but were let down by their finishing.

Ultimately, a solid overall performance in Bilda ensured they protected their four-goal advantage and secured safe passage to the tournament set to take place in Morocco later this year.

QUALIFIED! The Flamingos of Nigeria qualify for a remarkable eighth Fifa U-17 Women's World Cup, having only missed one edition (2018).

Following their qualification, Nigeria will be one of four teams in Africa’s contingent for the tournament alongside Cote D’Ivoire, Cameroon and hosts Morocco.

They will be making their eighth appearance at the U-17 Women’s World Cup, extending a remarkable run that has seen them miss out on qualification for just one edition of tournament since its inception.

The 2025 edition of the tournament will take place from October 17 to November 8, marking a historic first as it will be hosted on African soil and expanded to feature 24 teams, following FIFA’s decision to make it an annual event.
