Tolu Arokodare continued his impressive form for Racing Genk by breaking his personal goal-scoring record in their 1-1 draw against Sporting Charleroi in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League on Friday night, Footynaija.com reports.
The 24-year-old striker opened the scoring in the 70th minute, heading home from Jarne Steuckers’ pinpoint cross to notch his 16th league goal of the season — surpassing his previous best tally of 15 goals set during his time at Latvian side Valmiera in 2020.
Arokodare had equalled his personal record earlier in February against Standard Liege and wasted little time setting a new benchmark with his latest strike. His goal also consolidated his position as the Jupiler Pro League’s top scorer, with 16 goals in 28 appearances.
However, Genk were denied victory late on when Daan Heymans converted a 90th-minute penalty to salvage a point for the hosts.
Arokodare’s remarkable consistency has seen him score against 12 different teams this season, including Club Brugge, Anderlecht, and Antwerp — further strengthening his case for a maiden Super Eagles call-up.
His chances though appear slim with head coach Eric Chelle able to call on proven attacking talents including Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Victor Boniface and many others.
With Nigeria set to face Rwanda and Zimbabwe in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers this month, Arokodare will be hoping his red-hot form earns him a place in Eric Chelle’s squad.
