Nigeria have confirmed their final 23-man squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, Footynaija.com reports.
Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle trimmed his squad from an initial 39-man selection, unveiling the final list on Tuesday via the team’s official social media channels.
The Franco-Malian tactician has named three goalkeepers, six defenders, six midfielders, and eight attackers for the two crucial fixtures. As expected, Africa Player of the Year Ademola Lookman and Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen lead the attack.
Regulars Stanley Nwabali, William Troost-Ekong, Calvin Bassey, Wilfred Ndidi, and Alex Iwobi also make the squad, ensuring a strong core remains intact.
Genk forward Tolu Arokodare, Slavia Prague defender Igoh Ogbu, Remo Stars goalkeeper Kayode Bankole, and Niger Tornadoes star Papa Daniel Mustapha made the Super Eagles final list for the first time.
However, Leicester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho, Southampton’s Paul Onuachu, and captain Ahmed Musa are among the 16 players omitted from the final selection.
Nigeria will play Rwanda on March 21 before facing Zimbabwe on March 25 as they aim to boost their qualification hopes.
