The Super Eagles will face Zimbabwe in their next 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier, and fans are eager to see if Eric Chelle’s men can continue their turnaround after the impressive 2-0 win over Rwanda, Footynaija.com reports.

With Victor Osimhen back in top form, and Nigeria slowly regaining confidence, here are five bold predictions ahead of their clash with the Warriors.

5. Victor Osimhen to score again

After missing the first four qualifiers through injury, Osimhen returned in style, scoring twice against Rwanda. The Galatasaray star has 26 goals in 30 matches this season and is eager to keep that form going for the Super Eagles. Against a Zimbabwe defence that has struggled for consistency, it would not be a surprise to see Osimhen on the scoresheet again.

4. Nigeria to keep another clean sheet

The Super Eagles have had defensive issues in recent matches, but they looked much better in Kigali. Calvin Bassey and William Troost-Ekong formed a solid partnership, and goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali was calm and focused.

With Zimbabwe missing their influential midfielder Marvelous Nakamba due to injury, the Warriors might struggle to create chances. Another clean sheet is very possible.

3. Ademola Lookman to provide an assist

Atalanta’s winger Ademola Lookman has been in brilliant form this season, with 13 goals and 5 assists in Serie A. He looked sharp against Rwanda, linking well with Osimhen and Samuel Chukwueze. His creativity and delivery from the left flank could set up at least one goal for Nigeria against Zimbabwe.

2. Samuel Chukwueze to finally score

Chukwueze has not scored for Nigeria in recent qualifiers, but the AC Milan winger has been showing signs of improvement. He was lively against Rwanda and hit the post. This match could be his moment to shine. Zimbabwe’s full-backs are expected to struggle against a pacey winger Chukwueze who is fast. His dribbling might finally reward him with a goal.

1. Nigeria will climb up the group table

Nigeria currently sit fourth in Group C with six points after five matches, following their win over Rwanda. With another victory against Zimbabwe, the Super Eagles could move into the top three, depending on other results. The team knows they cannot afford any more slip-ups, and with Osimhen leading the line, fans can expect Nigeria to improve their position in the table.

This fixture could be another strong statement from Eric Chelle’s team. After a rough start to the qualifiers, the Super Eagles now look ready to fight their way back into contention, and Zimbabwe might just be the next victim.
