Benin Republic head coach Gernot Rohr has warned that Zimbabwe will be a tough opponent when they face Nigeria in a crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Tuesday evening, Footynaija.com reports.

The Super Eagles will host the Warriors at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, aiming to build on their recent 2-0 victory over Rwanda in Kigali. Zimbabwe, meanwhile, played out a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Rohr’s Benin side last Thursday.

Speaking after that match, Rohr acknowledged Zimbabwe’s resilience and the challenge they could pose to Nigeria.

“The 2-2 draw is okay,” Rohr said. “In the first half, we were the better team, but they dominated the second half. A 2-2 result always means one point.

“We knew this was Zimbabwe’s last chance to qualify for the World Cup. Now, with three points, it is finished.

“But they are fighting very well, and I know that with this coach and his staff, they will do the same [against Nigeria] in Uyo and again against Rwanda and Lesotho.”

Zimbabwe’s squad has already arrived in Nigeria, touching down in Lagos on Saturday before heading to Uyo to finalize preparations for the clash.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Super Eagles, currently sitting fourth in Group C, are eager to climb the standings as they chase World Cup qualification. Zimbabwe, at the bottom of the group, will need a result to keep their faint hopes alive.

With Rohr predicting a spirited display from the Warriors, Nigeria must be prepared for a battle as they seek another vital three points.
