Liverpool are reportedly looking to sign highly sought-after Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman from Atalanta this summer in a bid to bolster their attack ahead of next season, Footynaija.com understands.

Lookman has been a revelation since leaving RB Leipzig for Atalanta back in 2022. The 27-year-old wide man has developed into one of the best players in Europe, scoring 50 goals and registering 22 assists in 110 appearances across all competitions.

This season, he has continued to produce the goods for the Nerazzurri but a recent spat with head coach Gian Piero Gasperini has fueled rumours of a potential exit and Liverpool have now emerged as a potential destination.

The Reds are thought to be preparing for life without veteran star winger Mohamed Salah, whose current contract at Anfield is set to expire at the end of this season.

Despite reports of ongoing negotiations between the Premier League leaders and their Egyptian winger, there has been no significant progress on that front with Salah looking increasingly likely to depart Merseyside when the current campaign ends.

According to Italian media outlet Tutto Mercato, Liverpool have placed Lookman at the top of their list to replace Salah if the highly prolific 32-year-old eventually leaves Anfield this summer.

However, they could also potentially face competition from the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Newcastle United, Arsenal and Juventus. One major determinant of Lookman’s next destination will be the availability of Champions League football.

While his future continues to be a hot topic, Lookman is currently away on international duty with Nigeria as they look to revive their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification campaign against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
