AC Milan director Geoffrey Moncada has put an end to speculation surrounding Samuel Chukwueze’s future, insisting the Nigerian winger will not be leaving the club in the January transfer window, Soccernet.football reports.

With the winter transfer window already closed in most top European leagues, there is still an opportunity for clubs in Turkey, Romania, Switzerland, Hungary, and Serbia to make signings.

Following a failed deadline-day move to Fulham, rumours have surfaced suggesting that Turkish side Besiktas could make a late bid for the 24-year-old.

However, Moncada has categorically denied any possibility of Chukwueze departing San Siro this month.

Speaking to Sport Mediaset ahead of AC Milan’s Coppa Italia quarter-final against Roma, he stated: “For Chukwueze, I can say that he will stay with us. He is another possibility on the right, and we are happy.”

Chukwueze was strongly linked with a move to Fulham as the Premier League club sought attacking reinforcements before the deadline.

However, negotiations did not materialise, leading the Cottagers to turn their attention back to former Chelsea star Willian, who eventually stayed at Craven Cottage.

The arrival of new signings Sérgio Conceição, João Félix, and Riccardo Sottil in January could see Chukwueze’s playing time further reduced in manager Sergio Conceicao’s squad. The former Villarreal star was left on the bench as Milan sealed a 3-1 victory over Roma to advance to the Coppa Italia semifinals.

Despite limited minutes this season, the Nigerian international has contributed four goals and one assist in 25 appearances across all competitions. While competition for places has intensified at Milan, Moncada’s statement makes it clear that Chukwueze remains part of the club’s plans.
