Nasarawa United have parted ways with their Technical Director, Kabir Dogo, following a disappointing run in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) this season, Footynaija.com reports.

The club confirmed the decision in an official statement on Sunday, describing it as a mutual agreement.

Dogo, who was in his second spell with the Solid Miners, had struggled to turn around the team’s fortunes, leaving them second from bottom in the league with just 23 points from 24 matches. Despite his efforts, the club’s hierarchy felt a change in leadership was necessary to salvage their season.

“We want to specially thank Coach Kabir Dogo, who has taken our club and members as a family, for his commitment and hard work during his time with us,” the club said in its statement. “Unfortunately, results have not gone in our favour, and we feel it is in the best interest of the club to move forward in a new direction.”

Dogo also expressed his gratitude to the club’s management, players, staff, and fans for their support during his tenure.

In a swift move to stabilise the team, Nasarawa United have appointed former Super Eagles Chief Coach Salisu Yusuf as Dogo’s replacement.

Yusuf, a highly experienced coach with a CAF ‘A’ Licence, has worked extensively at both club and national team levels in Nigeria. He previously served as assistant coach of the Super Eagles and had a stint as the head coach of the Nigeria U-23 team.

Salisu’s meritorious career was tainted in 2018 when he was banned by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for a year and fined US$5000 following an investigation into bribery allegations.

Still Nasarawa United have decided to place their trust in the former Kano Pillars and Enugu Rangers coach.

“Due to the precarious situation of the club, we have decided to appoint former Chief Coach of the Super Eagles, Salisu Yusuf, as the new replacement for the departing Coach Kabir Dogo to take charge of the team immediately,” the club statement read.

Yusuf will be tasked with revitalising a Nasarawa United side that has struggled to find form this season. The Solid Miners are currently facing the threat of relegation, and the club’s management is hopeful that his expertise can inspire a turnaround.
