Osimhen: Italian law gives Juventus edge in their pursuit of Super Eagles striker

Serie A giants Juventus have emerged as a very attractive destination for highly sought-after Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen ahead of the summer transfer window thanks to an existing Italian tax law, Footynaija.com reports.

Osimhen will almost certainly be on the market this summer, when his loan spell at Galatasaray comes to an end. Among a host of top European suitors, Juventus are also interested in securing the services of the highly prolific Nigerian striker.

Napoli already have a release clause inserted into Osimhen’s deal and the asking price for the Nigeria international will stand at €80 million (£60 million) when the summer window opens at the end of the 2024/2025 campaign.

However, this release clause is only applicable to non-Italian teams, meaning Juventus will have to open fresh negotiations with the Partenopei and most likely agree to pay a higher amount than the aforementioned release clause in order to get their man.

Nevertheless, any potential agreements between Napoli and any one of Osimhen’s numerous suitors will depend on the player’s desires as well. In light of this fact, Italian tax law ‘Decreto Crescita’ could potentially help Juve’s cause in terms of landing the Nigerian.

Decreto Crescita, which translates to ‘Growth Decree’ in English, enables residents earning within Italy’s highest tax bracket to benefit from a 50% reduction in income tax.

This simply means that should Osimhen give the greenlight to Juventus and the Bianconeri end up convincing the Partenopei to sell, the Nigerian striker will enjoy a 50% tax reduction on his earnings at the Allianz Stadium.

As good as that sounds, Juventus still face an uphill battle in their bid to get Osimhen as Napoli are very reluctant to sell the forward to a local rival, with the former Serie A champions preferring to send him abroad.
