Manchester City midfielder Matheus Nunes has been cleared of any wrongdoing following an incident in a Madrid nightclub last month, Soccernet.football reports

Initial reports in Spanish media suggested that the Portuguese international had been arrested during an altercation while on a short break during the international window.

However, authorities have since confirmed that Nunes will not face any charges.

According to reports by El Mundo and relayed by Daily Mail, Nunes, who was not called up for Portugal’s squad in September, was spending time in Madrid when an incident unfolded at the La Riviera nightclub.

It was claimed that Nunes confiscated a man’s phone after the individual tried to take pictures of him in the bathroom without his consent.

The story further alleged that Nunes was taken into custody after refusing to return the phone, raising concerns over potential charges and legal action.

However, it has since emerged that the situation was exaggerated.

Witnesses clarified that Nunes merely knocked the phone out of the man’s hand after asking him to stop taking photos.

Though police were called to the scene, Nunes was not arrested, and no charges will be pursued against the midfielder.

The 25-year-old went on to make his second start of the season in Manchester City’s 4-0 Champions League win over Slovan Bratislava, days after his Carabao Cup performance against Watford.

Nunes is now focused on solidifying his role under Pep Guardiola, leaving the nightclub incident behind.

Despite the initial drama, it appears that the episode was a misunderstanding, and Nunes will continue to be part of City’s upcoming matches without any legal obstacles.
