Arsenal secured their first Champions League victory of the season with a 2-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night, Soccernet.football reports.

Goals from Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka ensured a comfortable night for Mikel Arteta’s side, who are now well-positioned for the knockout stages of the competition.

After a goalless draw in their opener against Atalanta, Arsenal were determined to make a statement on home soil.

Kai Havertz opened the scoring in the 20th minute, heading home for his sixth consecutive goal at the Emirates. This remarkable feat saw Havertz match Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s record set in 2019.

The German has now found the back of the net in six consecutive home appearances, having scored against Everton, Wolves, Brighton, Bolton, Leicester, and now PSG.

Bukayo Saka doubled Arsenal’s lead with a bit of luck, as his wide free-kick found its way through the box and beat PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The two-goal cushion allowed the Gunners to sit back in the second half, absorbing PSG’s pressure while limiting the French side to few clear chances.

The night was capped off with a debut for new signing Mikel Merino, adding to the sense of accomplishment for the Gunners.

Arsenal now have four points from their opening two European matches and turn their focus to the upcoming home clash against Shakhtar Donetsk, followed by tricky away fixtures at Inter Milan and Sporting.
