Inter Miami CF stretched their unbeaten run in MLS to eight games with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Charlotte FC at Chase Stadium, Soccernet.football reports.

Lionel Messi, who has been at the heart of Inter Miami’s success this season, struck a vital goal to secure a crucial point and keep his side in the race for the Supporters’ Shield.

The match began with Inter Miami on the front foot, creating chances from the opening minutes.

In the eighth minute, Messi had an opportunity to put his team ahead after a well-timed pass from Diego Gómez, but his shot was well saved. Despite further chances for Messi and Luis Suárez, the hosts couldn’t find a breakthrough in the first half.

Charlotte FC took a surprise lead 12 minutes into the second half when Karol Świderski latched onto a ball from Brandt Bronico, tucking it past Drake Callender to make it 1-0.

However, Inter Miami responded quickly, making tactical substitutions that included the return of Matías Rojas from injury.

The goal was Messi’s 15th in MLS this season and was assisted by Marcelo Weigandt and Sergio Busquets, who continues to demonstrate his playmaking brilliance.

Inter Miami dominated possession, recording 21 shots compared to Charlotte’s nine. Late attempts by Suárez and substitute Leonardo Campana nearly stole all three points for the home side, but Charlotte’s defence held firm.

The draw keeps Inter Miami’s unbeaten run alive as they aim to clinch the Supporters’ Shield. A win against Columbus Crew on Wednesday would secure the title for Messi and his teammates.
