Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou lauds ‘outstanding performance’ after dominant Old Trafford display
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has hailed his players following their dominant 3-0 thrashing of a lacklustre Manchester United side at Old Trafford on Sunday, Soccernet.football reports.

The Lilly Whites took most of the initiative on enemy territory, scoring just three minutes into the game. Micky van de Ven peeled through United’s midfield in a lightning-fast break before providing an assist for Brennan Johnson.

Postecoglou’s side then gained the numerical advantage just before half time after United captain Bruno Fernandes was shown a straight red card for a high tackle on Spurs midfielder James Maddison.

With their numerical advantage, the north Londoners were able to maintain their dominance for most parts of the second 45. Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke put the game beyond doubt, each netting Spurs’ second and third of the match.

They also created nine big chances, tying the record for the most ever in a Premier League match, while extending their unbeaten record against the Red Devils to four games in the competition.

Postecoglou was pleased with his team’s overall performance throughout the 90 minutes, especially their strong start.

“I thought it was an outstanding performance,” Postecoglou told BBC Sports.

“We started the game well, scored a great goal and probably should have had two or three.

“The pressure then overwhelms them, and they get the red card. After that, I thought we controlled the game well. Just an outstanding effort from all the lads.

“I don’t know about frustrated [about not getting more goals], but I am only human. More for the players themselves. We played some unbelievable football, and you want them to get the rewards.

“Every game you always want to start well, but it doesn’t always happen. I told the boys that in the last two games, we conceded in the first 20 seconds against Brentford. And then had a man sent off in the first eight minutes, so it is about dealing with what you have out there.

“That is our fourth win in a row, and we have won them in different ways, but always stayed true to our principlesand the way we want to play football.”

I do agree with all the ideas you’ve presented in your post. They are really convincing and will certainly work. Still, the posts are too short for starters. Could you please extend them a little from next time? Thanks for the post.

I’m curious to find out what blog system you are working with? I’m having some small security issues with my latest website and I’d like to find something more risk-free. Do you have any solutions?
