Kopa Trophy nominee Lamine Yamal never wants to leave Barcelona as he sets his sight on becoming a Legend at the Catalan club, Soccernet.football reports.

Yamal has established himself as a crucial part of Hansi Flick’s thus far unbeatable Barcelona following a standout debut season with the Spanish giants.

The 17-year-old, having notched one goal and four assists in as many games this season, is fully committed to the Blaugrana and has expressed his desire to stay with the Catalan club for his entire career.

“I hope I never leave Barca. I hope to be a legend at Barcelona,” he told Spanish television show El Hormiguero.

The Euro 2024 winner has also been shortlisted for this year’s Kopa Trophy, an award presented to the best young player at the annual Ballon d’Or ceremony.

“We were in the elevator at the national team,” Yamal said when asked how he found out about his nomination.

“First it came out that Nico [Williams] was there and then my friends told me that I was there too.

“[I don’t think I will win]. But it’s good to warm up, let’s see if I have a chance at some point.”

Yamal was also asked if he enjoyed being compared to legends like Lionel Messi, to which he responded: “Being compared to the greatest in history is incredible.

“It shows you’re doing something right. But comparing yourself to him is tough. I just try to be myself and hope to be remembered as Lamine.”

Following his electric performances at the 2024 European Championships, the youngster has enjoyed a scintillating start to the 2024/2025 La Liga season. We expect to see Yamal back in La Liga action on Sunday, September 15 when Barcelona travel to Girona.
