Thomas Müller made history on Sunday as he became Bayern Munich’s all-time appearance leader, marking his 710th match for the club with a goal in a 2-0 victory over SC Freiburg, Soccernet.football reports.

The result keeps Bayern’s perfect start to the Bundesliga season intact, placing them second in the table, level on six points with FC Heidenheim and RB Leipzig.

Müller, who surpassed Sepp Maier’s previous record of 709 appearances, made an immediate impact off the bench.

His 710th appearance was celebrated in typical Müller fashion as he controlled a cross from Serge Gnabry, took on a defender, and volleyed the ball powerfully into the net.

This goal not only sealed the win but also extended his remarkable record of scoring in 16 consecutive Bundesliga seasons.

Earlier in the match, Bayern took the lead through a Harry Kane penalty, awarded after a contentious VAR decision.

The spot-kick was given for a handball by Freiburg’s Max Rosenfelder, despite the ball only grazing the top of his arm with his back turned to Kane. Freiburg had defended staunchly up to that point, but the penalty shifted the momentum decisively in Bayern’s favour.

Müller’s historic moment and Bayern’s continued dominance highlight the Bavarian club’s strong start under Vincent Kompany.

As the Bundesliga takes a brief pause for the international break, Bayern will look to build on their perfect record when they face Holstein Kiel next, while Freiburg will aim to bounce back against VfL Bochum.
