Barcelona summer signing Dani Olmo has shared his delight following his debut for the Blaugrana in a 2-1 victory over Rayo Vallecano at the Estadio de Vallecas on Tuesday, Soccernet.football reports.

Olmo came off the bench for his debut, with Barcelona trailing to Unai Lopez’ 9th-minute strike. He then went on to grab a late winner for the Catalans after Pedri leveled matters at the hour mark.

This victory ensured Hansi Flick’s unbeaten start to the season continued. It also marked Barcelona’s first league win at the home of Los Franjirrojos since a 3-2 triumph in November 2018.

Olmo’s goal, scored eight minutes from time, made him the first player to score on his LaLiga debut for Barcelona in an away match since Sandro Ramirez against Villarreal in August 2014.

The 26-year-old was forced to miss out on Barca’s first two games of the season as he was yet to be registered due to La Liga’s strict financial regulations.

However, Olmo’s debut for his boyhood club was totally worth the wait, according to the Euro 2024 winner at full-time.

“I’ve been looking forward to my debut since for a long time and it couldn’t have been in a better way,” Olmo told DAZN.

“It’s been many years since Barcelona won here, it’s such a tough place to play so the end result is just unparalleled.

“I’ve felt very good, I was really looking forward to it. Today it finally happened, I’m very happy to have helped the team and even better to have scored. I’m delighted.”

Barcelona sit atop the standings with nine points from three games, two ahead of second-placed Villarreal. They welcome Real Valladolid to the Camp Nou on Saturday.
