Eintracht Frankfurt are reportedly considering a move for Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof as they search for a crucial addition to their backline, Soccernet.football understands.

According to German outlet Frankfurter Rundschau, the Bundesliga club’s director of football, Markus Krösche, is under pressure to secure a reliable centre-back after a recent transfer target fell through.

Frankfurt had been close to signing Konstantinos Koulierakis, but complications with the player’s agent led to the deal collapsing, with the player now heading to Wolfsburg instead.

This setback has heightened the urgency for Krösche to find an alternative, and Lindelof has emerged as a potential solution.

The Swedish international, who joined Manchester United in 2017, has found himself lower in the pecking order at Old Trafford following the arrivals of Leny Yoro and Mathijs de Ligt.

With Lindelof entering the final year of his contract, United could be open to offers, especially as they may seek to cash in rather than risk losing him on a free transfer next summer.

Eintracht Frankfurt, bolstered by the recent sale of William Pacho to Paris Saint-Germain, have the financial means to make a move for Lindelof.

Although specific figures have not been disclosed, the possibility of bringing the experienced defender to Germany is now under serious consideration as Krösche looks to strengthen his squad ahead of the new season.
