“All doors are open”-Kimmich weighs in on uncertain Bayern future

Joshua Kimmich has acknowledged that a transfer away from Bayern Munich remains a possibility this summer amid increasing speculation, Soccernet.football reports.

Kimmich, having been with Bayern since 2015, made 43 appearances for the Bundesliga giants last season, contributing two goals and 10 assists while primarily playing at right-back.

It ended up being a disappointing campaign for the Bavarians, who finished the season without winning any piece of silverware while Bayer Leverkusen secured their first-ever Bundesliga title in spectacular fashion.

Kimmich is currently under contract with the Bundesliga giants until 2025, but his long-term future remains uncertain. The 29-year-old may still consider a move this summer, having previously been linked with several top European clubs.

While on Bayern’s pre-season tour, Kimmich indicated that ‘doors are open’ for clubs interested in securing his signature this summer.

“You can always talk to each other reasonably,” he said. “All doors are open to everyone.

“Generally speaking, I feel really comfortable here. All my kids were born here, we built a house.

“Of course, last season wasn’t so successful, that’s not what Bayern and I want. Now I’m hungry, full of energy.”

For Kimmich, staying at Bayern could be appealing, especially with new coach Vincent Kompany bringing a fresh perspective to the German side.

The Germany international has expressed his desire to return to central midfield, a role he might occupy under the Belgian, as evidenced by his start alongside Aleksandar Pavlovic in Bayern’s pre-season win over Tottenham Hotspur.

The Bavarians will begin their Bundesliga campaign against Wolfsburg on August 25, as they aim to reclaim their throne from Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen.
