Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez has revealed that he will take some time to consider what he wants for his future after Argentina’s men football campaign at the ongoing Olympics comes to an end, Soccernet.football reports.

Since joining City in 2022, the Argentine has become one of the most decorated players in world football at both club and international levels, winning two Premier League titles, the Champions League, FA Cup, UEFA Super Cup, the FIFA Club World Cup, the 2022 World Cup and two Copa America titles.

Alvarez, who participated in the 2024 Copa America before heading to France for the Paris Olympics, was City’s second-most utilized player last season, contributing 11 goals and nine assists as they secured the Premier League title.

However, the 24-year-old was often utilized as a substitute, coming in late on in both games against Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals, where City’s defense was undone by the eventual champions. He also came off the bench in the FA Cup final defeat to Manchester United.

He was often deployed in the attacking midfield role to cover for the injured Kevin De Bruyne and also stepped in at center forward when City’s first-choice striker Erling Haaland was unavailable.

Recent speculations have linked the Argentina international with top European clubs like Chelsea, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid with City, who appear unwilling to let him go, valuing him at £75M in a bid to ward off the interested parties.

Asked for an update on his future, Alvarez told DIRECTV Sports; “I haven’t stopped to think about what I’m going to do. When this [Argentina men’s football campaign at the Olympics] is over, I’ll start thinking about what I want for myself. We’ll see how things go.

“Last season I was one of the players who played the most minutes in the team. But it’s true: in the end, in important games, you don’t like being left out and you want to contribute.”
