Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, and RB Leipzig are all interested in signing Stuttgart centre-back Waldemar Anton, Soccernet.football understands.

Dortmund needs a new centre-back as Mats Hummels may leave the club for free this summer, and Niklas Süle’s future is uncertain after losing his spot in the team. Anton has become a top target for Dortmund after helping Stuttgart secure second place in the Bundesliga.

BILD reports that Anton, a Germany international, has a release clause of about 22.5 million euros. Interest in him is high, with Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig also keen to sign him.

Leverkusen, after a stellar season winning the Bundesliga and the German Cup, are seen as a top choice for German players. They are currently leading the race for Anton, although the 27-year-old is also considering Dortmund.

His relationship with Dortmund’s new technical director Sven Mislintat, who signed him for Stuttgart in 2020, could influence his decision.

Dortmund will need to act fast to secure Anton. Their transfer plans may depend on the futures of Hummels and Süle. They are also linked with Dean Huijsen from Juventus as another option for the defence.
