Pep Guardiola has hinted that next season could be his last as Manchester City manager, Soccernet.football reports.

Guardiola’s team made history by winning their fourth consecutive Premier League title, with a 3-1 victory over West Ham. Phil Foden scored twice and Rodri added another to secure the win ahead of Arsenal who also beat Everton 2-1 at the Emirates.

However, after claiming his sixth title in eight years at Manchester City, Guardiola admitted he might leave when his contract expires next year. The 53-year-old revealed he had doubts about his motivation after City won the Treble last season.

Asked about his future, Guardiola said, as per Sky Sports: “The reality is I am closer to leaving than staying. We have talked with the club — my feeling is that I want to stay now. So I will stay next season and during the season we will talk. But eight or nine years? We will see.”

Guardiola’s time in Manchester is already double his longest tenure as a manager, which was at Barcelona.

He shared that there were moments after last season’s Champions League win over Inter Milan when he questioned if he could continue.

After narrowly beating Arsenal to the title this year, Guardiola said: “I had that feeling last year, thinking, ‘It’s over, I am finished, what is left?’ Then I thought, ‘I am here, OK,’ and we started playing and winning games. Now four in a row is done, so I think, ‘What next?'”

Guardiola, who joined Manchester City in 2016, has achieved remarkable success. He led the team to their first Premier League title in his second season, breaking several records along the way.

Under his leadership, City also won a domestic treble in 2018-19, reached their first Champions League final in 2020-21, and won their first Champions League title as part of a continental treble in 2022-23.
