Mourinho ‘agrees’ two-year deal with Turkish club

Ex-Roma boss Jose Mourinho is set for a return to management after ‘agreeing’ a two-year deal to become new Fenerbahce head coach, Soccernet.football understands.

The Special One was axed by AS Roma in January after a poor run of results in the Serie A and has since remained out of work despite being heavily linked with clubs from the Saudi Pro League and international jobs.

According to Sky Sports’ Gianluca Di Marzio, the experienced Portuguese tactician has reached a two-year contract agreement with Turkish club Fenerbahce.

Fenerbahce finished second in the Turkish Super Lig this season, trailing fierce rivals Galatasaray by three points and narrowly missing out on the Super Lig crown.

The Turkish giants are looking to replace manager Ismail Kharta after a run of three consecutive second place finishes in the Super Lig and it is generally believed among the Fenerbahce hierarchy that Mourinho is the right man to take them to the next level.

Mourinho is widely known to have enjoyed a successful coaching career, making history with the likes of FC Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real Madrid.

The 61-year-old also oversaw a relatively successful spell at Manchester United, winning the EFL Cup and Europa League before managing at Tottenham Hotspur where he was sacked just before a Cup final.

He guided Roma to Europa Conference League glory in 2022 and the Europa League final in 2023 where they emerged second best after losing to Sevilla on penalties.

Mourinho has amassed a staggering 26 trophies during his illustrious managerial career.
