Borussia Dortmund pulled off a sensational away win, stunning Paris St-Germain to punch their ticket to the Champions League final for the first time since 2013, Soccernet.football reports.

Dortmund held firm to a 1-0 lead from the first leg and then sealed the deal with a flawless performance on Parisian turf to secure another excellent 1-0 victory.

Veteran defender Mats Hummels was the hero for the Germans as he capitalized on a lapse in PSG’s defence to nod home from close range off Julian Brandt’s perfectly placed left-wing corner.

Hummels’ striker doubled Dortmund’s advantage and handed the Bundesliga outfit a healthy lead to fight for.

The match was not without its heart-stopping moments, notably when PSG’s Warren Zaire-Emery squandered a gilt-edged opportunity, cannoning his volley off the post early in the second half.

Lady Luck seemed to favour Dortmund as PSG’s Nuno Mendes also rattled the woodwork, leaving the hosts ruing their missed chances.

Referee Daniele Orsato added to the drama, initially awarding PSG a penalty only to reverse his decision, deeming Hummels’ challenge on Ousmane Dembele just outside the box.

PSG, perennial contenders but never conquerors in European football, were left crestfallen as Dortmund’s resolute defence held firm against their relentless attacks.

Even Kylian Mbappe, in what could be his swansong for PSG before his rumoured move to Real Madrid, was thwarted, his effort deflected onto the crossbar in a moment of exquisite agony.

Bayern Munich play Real Madrid in the second semifinal slated for Wednesday, with a potential all-German final on the cards should the Bavarians overcome the Spanish champions.

Real Madrid, however, hold the advantage after drawing 2-2 in Munich in the first leg and will look to capitalize on home advantage in the return fixture.
