Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho opened up on which moment he believes to be the “proudest” of his career during his unveiling at EFL Championship side Middlesbrough, Soccernet.football reports.

The 28-year-old frontman joined Boro from Sevilla on a 6-month loan in the January transfer after enduring a difficult spell at the Spanish La Liga club despite only moving to Seville from England in the 2024 summer transfer window.

In an interview with Boro’s official media, posted on the club’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, the interviewer asked Iheanacho which moment of his career made him the proudest, and the Nigeria international responded: “That’s a big one. I think what I can remember is winning the FA Cup with Leicester City.”

Iheanacho enjoyed FA Cup success with Leicester City back in 2021 after they narrowly edged out a Thomas Tuchel-led Chelsea side 1-0. The Nigerian started that game upfront alongside Jamie Vardy, helping the Foxes secure their first-ever Cup success despite going into that tie as heavy underdogs.

Iheanacho, who spent two years on the books at Manchester City, also revealed which  managers and teammates had the biggest influence on his career.

“Biggest influence on my career? There is quite a couple. So many people helped me throughout my career, obviously, managers as well, [Manuel] Pellegrini, Brendan Rodgers, Pep Guardiola. Players as well Clichy, Kompany, Yaya Toure, obviously, Jamie Vardy as well.

“There is a lot to be mentioned. A lot of people have helped me throughout my career even in the [Nigerian] national team as well, John Mikel Obi, so many coaches have helped me as well, so that’s them.”
