Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi entered the Premier League record books during Fulham’s thrilling 2-2 draw against Ipswich Town, becoming just the fifth African player to make 50+ Premier League appearances for three different clubs, Soccernet.football reports.

This rare feat places him alongside Nigerian greats Nwankwo Kanu and Yakubu Aiyegbeni, as well as Senegalese stars El Hadji Diouf and Mohamed Diamé.

The match itself provided its own slice of history, with penalties converted by Fulham and Ipswich just two minutes apart—the 69th and 71st minutes, respectively.

According to Opta, this is the shortest time between two penalty goals in a single half of an English top-flight game since detailed records began in 2006-07.

Iwobi’s contributions this season have been remarkable, amassing eight goal involvements in just 20 appearances under Marco Silva.

His consistent performances have cemented his role as a key figure at Fulham. Earlier this season, he broke Nigeria’s Premier League assist record, surpassing the tally set by Kanu.

The Hale End academy graduate began his career at Arsenal, where he spent 15 years, made 149 appearances, and won both the FA Cup and Community Shield.

A £35 million transfer to Everton followed, before he joined Fulham in the summer of 2023. Since arriving at Craven Cottage, Iwobi has made 55 appearances, scoring 11 goals and delivering five assists.

Despite the draw, Fulham remain within touching distance of the Premier League’s top six, trailing by just four points.
