Rafael Leão has revealed the message he gave Victor Osimhen before Galatasaray’s 4-0 win over Konyaspor on Friday, after the Nigerian striker welcomed his second child, Footynaija reports.
Osimhen opened the scoring in the 12th minute, heading home Gabriel Sara’s free-kick to give Galatasaray the lead.
Yunus Akgün made it 2-0 in the 28th minute, while Aleksandr Batrakov and Leão scored after the break to complete the victory.
The Nigerian striker almost added a second before half-time, but his effort was tipped over the bar. His goal was his ninth in eight Süper Lig appearances this season and his third in as many matches.
After the game, Leão revealed that he had urged Osimhen to score twice to mark the birth of his second child.
“Osimhen had his second child, so before the match I told him: ‘You have to score two goals today,'” the Portuguese winger said.
Osimhen had a chance to get his second goal but instead gave Leão the opportunity to score from the penalty spot.
“He could have scored his second goal, but he passed the ball to me instead. I’m really happy to have a teammate like him,” Leão added.
The former AC Milan forward converted the 55th-minute penalty to score his first goal for Galatasaray since joining the Turkish champions in the summer.
Osimhen was substituted in the 61st minute ahead of Galatasaray’s upcoming UEFA Champions League fixture.
The win capped a memorable night for both forwards, with Osimhen continuing his scoring run and Leão finally getting off the mark for his new club.
