Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho has spoken about his record-breaking scoring run for Bursaspor while remaining cautious about questions surrounding his future at the Turkish club, Footynaija.com reports.
The Nigerian forward made history last week after scoring in 10 consecutive league appearances, moving ahead of Turkish legends Metin Oktay and Saffet Sancaklı, who had each found the net in nine successive matches.
Speaking after Bursaspor’s 3-0 victory over Muglaspor, in which he scored twice and provided an assist, Iheanacho admitted he had not realised the significance of his achievement until it was brought to his attention.

“Before the game last week, I didn’t even know about the record before I was told. I am now in the record book and I am happy to achieve that in Turkey, it is not easy,” the striker said, via Spor Bursa.
“It was a tough game but I am now in the record book, so I am happy and proud to be in the record book and hopefully there will be more goals to come from me and the team.”
Iheanacho keeps Bursaspor future open
With his goalscoring form attracting attention, questions about how long Bursaspor can retain their in-form forward are likely to follow. However, Iheanacho was unwilling to make any commitments about what lies ahead.

“I am not going to say anything about the future until we come to the future,” he said.
“Right now, we are living in the moment, so we have to enjoy the moment now that we are living in it and make the most out of it and continue playing, winning, being at the top of the table, and scoring goals.”

Iheanacho’s immediate focus will be helping Bursaspor maintain their position among the leading sides in the Turkish First League as they pursue promotion to the Super Lig.
The Nigerian has made an impressive start since joining the club as a free agent in July, registering 14 goals and three assists in 10 league appearances, according to the figures reported after the Muglaspor match.
Bursaspor’s position in the promotion race makes his continued contribution particularly important, with the club needing consistency across the campaign to secure a return to Turkey’s top flight.
While Iheanacho has left his long-term future undecided, extending his scoring run and helping Bursaspor sustain their challenge will remain the immediate priorities as his remarkable season continues.
