MK Dons captain Favour Omenazu has received her first Super Falcons call-up after choosing Nigeria over England, the country where she was born and raised and for whom she is also eligible, Footynaija reports.
The 24-year-old midfielder has been added to Augustine Eguavoen’s squad for Nigeria’s 2028 Olympic qualifying double-header against Comoros.
Omenazu was not included in the original squad announced for the second-round tie, but her invitation arrived as preparations intensified for Friday’s first leg at Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne-Remo. The return match is scheduled for October 13 at the same venue.
Her route to the Falcons has been built in English football. A former Leicester City WFC player, Omenazu developed through Bugbrooke St Michaels, Northampton Town and Stourbridge before establishing herself at MK Dons, where she has taken on the captaincy. She is valued for her versatility, operating in midfield while also filling in at right-back.
That adaptability could prove useful to Nigeria, who have been forced to reshape their squad ahead of the Comoros tie. Asisat Oshoala has been excused from the assignment, while Ashleigh Plumptre, Oluwatosin Demehin and Flourish Sabastine are unavailable.
After publicly committing her future to Nigeria despite her eligibility for England, she now has a chance to turn that choice into a senior debut and begin a new chapter in the green and white.
