Nigeria’s Super Falcons have begun preparations for their Los Angeles 2028 Olympic qualifying tie against Comoros, Footynaija reports.
However, several of Augustine Eguavoen’s most experienced players are still making their way into camp.
Nine players had reported to the team’s base in Ikenne by early morning of Monday, October 5, with Farida AbdulWahab, Tumininu Adeshina, Joy Igbokwe, Fatimoh Solaty, Christiana Uzoma, Blessing Nkor, Valentina Uroko, Glory Edet and Sandra John among those already on duty.
Captain Rasheedat Ajibade, Asisat Oshoala, Ashley Plumptre and Gift Monday are expected to join the squad during the week, according to the latest camp update. No specific arrival date or time has been publicly announced for the quartet.
Their arrival will give Eguavoen a significant boost ahead of Friday’s first leg against Comoros. Ajibade and Oshoala bring experience at the highest level, while Plumptre is back with the Falcons after missing the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations through injury.
Gift Monday also arrives with recent international experience, having featured at the 2026 WAFCON and scored in Nigeria’s group-stage campaign. The Washington Spirit forward has also made 48 appearances for the NWSL club since joining them, scoring 12 goals and providing three assists.
Eguavoen originally instructed all 28 invitees to report to the AM2PM Hotel in Ijebu-Ode on October 3. The Comoros first leg is scheduled for Friday, October 9, with the second meeting four days later at Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne, because Comoros has no CAF-approved venue.
