Valencia have confirmed that Super Eagles striker Umar Sadiq will miss Sunday’s La Liga clash against Barcelona after suffering a hamstring injury, Footynaija.com reports.
Sadiq is one of several Valencia players unavailable for the meeting with the Spanish champions, with manager Carlos Corberan revealing that the Nigerian will remain sidelined for several weeks.
The 29-year-old suffered the injury after featuring in Valencia’s opening three league games of the season and is now expected to spend between eight and ten weeks on the sidelines.

This latest setback comes after Sadiq had made an encouraging start to the new campaign, having featured in all three of Valencia’s matches.
He also opened his account for the season in an otherwise disappointing 3-1 defeat to Deportivo La Coruna on August 30, scoring what remains Valencia’s only league goal so far this season.
His absence therefore leaves Corberan without one of his main attacking options as Valencia prepare to welcome Barcelona to Mestalla.
The Valencia boss acknowledged that Sadiq’s injury presents another challenge for his squad but insisted the players available must take greater responsibility.
“Our goal is to overcome any kind of inconvenience, with those of us who are here taking a step forward,” Corberan said, per Sempre Valencia.
Sadiq’s latest trip to the treatment room is another frustrating setback for the Nigerian striker, who completed a permanent move from Real Sociedad to Valencia earlier this year after previously enjoying a productive loan spell at the Mestalla.
He will now focus on his recovery, while Los Che turn their complete attention towards trying to keep Hansi Flick’s La Liga champions at bay when they rock up to the Mestalla later today.
