Belgian Pro League side Zulte Waregem have revealed their plans for Nigerian youngster Maliq Musa after completing his move from Nigeria Premier Football League side Ikorodu City, Footynaija.com reports.
The 18-year-old winger has joined De Boeren and will initially link up with Jong Essevee, the club’s U-23 side, as he begins the next chapter of his career in Belgium.
Zulte Waregem assistant coach Davy De fauw explained that the club were impressed by the youngster’s qualities but will be patient with his development.

“Maliq was immediately convinced by our project here at Essevee,” De fauw said, per quotes on the club’s official website.
“Maliq has enormous qualities, but he is still very young, so we will take the necessary time to allow him to develop further.
“We are convinced that he will be well supported at Essevee to successfully take this new step in his career.”
Musa’s move to Belgium comes after his emergence at Ikorodu City, where he rose through the club’s academy before earning his first professional contract in August 2025.
The Lagos-born youngster made nine league appearances for the NPFL outfit last season, contributing one goal and one assist.
He also announced himself on the senior stage with a goal in Ikorodu City’s 4-2 defeat to Niger Tornadoes in September 2025, scoring shortly after the restart.
His development has now earned him a move to Europe, with Zulte Waregem keen to provide the platform for him to adapt before making the push for first-team football.
The Belgian club’s decision to initially place him with Jong Essevee underlines their intention to carefully manage the teenager’s transition while giving him the necessary experience to develop further.
For Musa, the move represents a significant step forward after a rapid rise through the ranks at Ikorodu City. He’ll now be looking to find his feet in his new surroundings and ultimately establish himself at Zulte Waregem.
