Femi Azeez has taken another step towards a long-awaited Premier League opportunity, with newly promoted Hull City now leading the race for the Super Eagles winger after his outstanding campaign with Millwall, Footynaija.com reports.
The 25-year-old has spent the past two seasons at Millwall after leaving Reading in August 2024, gradually becoming one of the Championship side’s most productive attacking players. His best work came last season, when he scored 11 goals and provided seven assists in the Championship, while other reports credit him with eight assists across the campaign.
Azeez did not take the usual straight road into the professional game. After leaving Watford as a youngster, he worked his way through non-league football with Northwood and Wealdstone before getting his opportunity at Reading. He eventually made the move to Millwall, where his development continued and his performances started attracting attention beyond the Championship.

His 2025/26 campaign changed the conversation around him. Azeez finished among the Championship’s standout attackers and was named in the PFA Championship Team of the Season, while his five goal contributions in five matches also earned him the league’s Player of the Month award for February.
That form also brought Nigeria into the picture. Eric Chelle handed Azeez his Super Eagles debut in May, and the winger could hardly have made a stronger first impression, scoring twice as Nigeria defeated Zimbabwe 2-0 in the Unity Cup semi-final. He then helped Nigeria go on to win the tournament, giving him an international breakthrough at almost the same time his club career was attracting Premier League attention.
Hull City step up pursuit of Super Eagles star
According to The Sun, Hull City have moved to the front of the queue for Azeez as they prepare for their return to the Premier League. The Tigers are looking to strengthen their attack and have identified the Millwall winger as a player capable of adding pace, direct running and goals to their frontline.
The interest is serious enough that Millwall have already faced significant offers for their star. Reports indicate the Lions rejected a bid that would have surpassed the £14.5 million they received for Romain Esse when he joined Crystal Palace. Millwall therefore have little reason to sell cheaply, especially with Azeez still under contract.
Hull are not alone in their interest. Sunderland had previously shown interest in the winger, while European clubs have also been linked with a move. However, Hull currently appear to have the strongest position in the race as they try to make Azeez one of their major additions for their Premier League campaign.
