Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho has expressed his delight after making an impressive start to his new adventure in Turkey with Bursaspor, Footynaija.com reports.
The 29-year-old was handed his competitive debut on Sunday as Bursaspor travelled to face Bodrum FK in their opening TFF 1. Lig fixture of the new campaign.
Iheanacho wasted little time making his presence felt, opening the scoring for his new club in the 27th minute with a composed finish.

The former Celtic forward then turned provider just before half-time, setting up Lincoln to double Bursaspor’s advantage and put the visitors firmly in control.
Bursaspor eventually secured a 2-0 victory, with Iheanacho’s contribution earning him the Man of the Match award on an afternoon that could hardly have gone better for the Nigeria international.
Reflecting on his debut, Iheanacho admitted he was delighted to have helped his new club begin the campaign with three points.
“I’m very happy,” he told Bein Sports.
“Early matches are tough. I’m delighted we won. I’m also thrilled to have scored a goal and provided an assist.”
Iheanacho joined Bursaspor on a free transfer last month after severing ties with Scottish Premiership giants Celtic, choosing the Turkish club’s project as his next challenge.
The forward has made no secret of his ambitions with Bursaspor, with promotion to the Süper Lig and eventually competing in European competitions among the club’s long-term objectives.
“I hope I can be successful here and win some trophies,” he added.
After such an encouraging first outing, Iheanacho will now be looking to maintain his momentum and help Bursaspor mount a serious promotion challenge this season.
