Galatasaray midfielder Renato Nhaga has described Super Eagles captain Victor Osimhen as a huge role model, revealing how the Nigerian striker has played an important role in helping him adapt to life at RAMS Park, Footynaija.com reports.
Nhaga joined Galatasaray from Portuguese outfit Casa Pia during the 2026 winter transfer window and is widely regarded as one of the club’s most exciting young midfielders.
Since arriving in Istanbul, the 19-year-old Guinea-Bissau international has shared a dressing room with Osimhen, who has established himself as one of the team’s senior figures.

Despite a difference of eight years in age, the pair happen to share a close relationship, with Nhaga crediting the former Napoli striker for supporting him both on and off the pitch.
Speaking to Le Marca Sports, the teenage midfielder explained why Osimhen remains an inspiration not only to him but to young African footballers across the continent.
“Osimhen is a very important figure for both me and all African players. He is someone who came from nothing and made it all the way here. He’s a huge role model,” Nhaga said.
“He’s been supporting me from day one. He welcomed me very warmly. He always looks out for and protects me. By sharing examples from his own life, he helps me in my development.”
Osimhen’s rise from humble beginnings in Lagos to becoming one of Africa’s biggest football stars has made him an inspiration for many young players across the continent.
Beyond his exploits in front of goal, the 27-year-old has also earned a reputation as a leader in the dressing room, with Nhaga’s comments offering further insight into his influence behind the scenes.
With Galatasaray stepping up preparations for the 2026/27 season under Okan Buruk, Nhaga will be hoping to force his way into the first-team picture after arriving midway through last season. The young midfielder will also be looking to continue learning from Osimhen as the Turkish champions prepare to defend their league crown and compete in Europe once again.
