Super Eagles assistant coach Daniel Ogunmodede has been named the new Technical Adviser of Kano Pillars, marking a fresh chapter for one of Nigeria’s most successful clubs ahead of the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League season, Footynaija.com reports.
The four time NPFL champions confirmed the appointment on Friday, bringing in the highly rated tactician following his impressive spell at Remo Stars, where he guided the Ikenne club to their first ever league title. Ogunmodede is expected to lead Kano Pillars’ rebuilding process as the club aims to return to the top of Nigerian football.
His arrival comes after a remarkable rise in Nigerian coaching. Beyond his achievements at club level, Ogunmodede has earned national recognition as one of Eric Chelle’s assistants with the Super Eagles, playing a role in the senior national team’s technical crew while continuing to build an impressive reputation in the domestic game.
Announcing the appointment, Kano Pillars expressed confidence in the 44 year old’s ability to lead the team into a new era.
“We’ve reached an agreement to appoint Daniel Ogunmodede (Ijaball) as our new Technical Adviser ahead of the 2026/2027 football season,” the club said in a statement released on social media.

Ogunmodede leaves Remo Stars after overseeing the most successful period in the club’s history. Under his leadership, the Sky Blue Stars developed into genuine title contenders before eventually lifting the NPFL trophy, a feat that secured their place in the CAF Champions League and further established the coach as one of the country’s leading tacticians.
His appointment is also a major statement of intent by Kano Pillars, who have endured inconsistent seasons despite their rich history in Nigerian football. The club will be hoping Ogunmodede can restore stability, improve performances and guide the Sai Masu Gida back into the race for domestic honours.
