Super Eagles duo Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi are due to play the 2026/2027 Premier League season under a new manager after Nottingham Forest’s sudden sacking of Vitor Pereira, Footynaija.com reports.
After signing an 18-month contract at the City Ground in February, Pereira successfully led Forest to Premier League survival and a place in the Europa League semi-finals.
Despite this, the Tricky Trees, on Tuesday night, opted to activate a June break clause that allowed the club to part ways with the Portuguese coach before the start of July.
Pereira’s departure brings a surprisingly brief spell in charge where he oversaw 20 games and recorded eight wins, six draws and six defeats.
Now according to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Nottingham Forest have now turned to former Crystal Palace and Eintracht Frankfurt manager Oliver Glasner as Vitor Pereira’s replacement for the upcoming season.

Fabrizio’s report also states that Glasner will bring key members of his coaching staff along with him to the City Ground while also being involved in key decisions regarding recruitment this summer.
Glasner joins Forest off the back of a brilliant campaign in Europe where he guided Crystal Palace to the UEFA Europa Conference League title in May, delivering a maiden continental trophy to Selhurst Park.
The Austrian, who also led the Eagles to FA Cup glory in the 2024/2025 season, famously guided Frankfurt to Europa League glory back in 2022.
How Glasner’s arrival will affect the futures of Aina and Awoniyi, who have both been important players for Nottingham Forest in recent years, remains uncertain at this point.
