Danish First Division outfit Hobro have announced the signing of young Nigerian prospect Onyebuchi Obasi from five-time Norwegian champions Valerenga Fotball, Footynaija.com reports.
Obasi has been on the books of Valerenga for the past two years, having joined the Norwegian side back in 2024. In that time however, he struggled to get playing time, making just five appearances for the first teams and scoring once.
In a bid to secure regular minutes, the pacey wide man spent time on loan at Swedish third-tier club FC Stockholm. The move, though, did little to revive his fortunes as he featured just three times, accumulating only 47 minutes of action.
Now, the Nigerian believes his switch to Hobro represents the ideal opportunity to kickstart his career and continue his development in a new environment.

“I am happy to be moving to Hobro IK. A club that I have already had a really good impression of and where I have felt welcome from day one,” he said, per quotes on the club’s official website.
“I have had good talks with head coach Jens Gjesing and sports director Lars Justesen and I am sure that this move is the right one for me and my development. I am looking forward to pulling the yellow jersey over my head and giving back to the club on the pitch.
“As a player, I am a fast and challenging type who always works hard for the team and I will do my part to ensure that we have a good season.”
Having struggled to establish himself in both Norway and Sweden, Obasi will now hope the move to Denmark provides the platform to rediscover his best form.
With regular playing time expected to be more attainable at Hobro, the Beyond Limit Academy graduate will be eager to repay the club’s faith and finally fulfil the promise that earned him a move to European football.
