After another disappointing title race in the Turkish Süper Lig, Fenerbahçe are preparing major changes to their squad, with Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu now at the centre of their summer plans, Footynaija reports.
The Istanbul giants are determined to close the gap on rivals Galatasaray after missing out on the league crown again, and club officials believe Onuachu could provide the cutting edge they lacked in decisive matches this season.
The 31-year-old has enjoyed an outstanding campaign with Trabzonspor, establishing himself as one of the most dangerous forwards in Turkey. His powerful displays, aerial strength and clinical finishing have made him one of the standout performers in the league, with the former Southampton striker leading the race for the Süper Lig Golden Boot after scoring 22 league goals.
Reports in Turkey suggest Fenerbahçe have already opened discussions with Trabzonspor over a possible transfer package. The proposed offer is believed to include Turkish internationals İsmail Yüksek and Oğuz Aydın alongside a significant cash payment worth around €10m.

Fenerbahçe officials see Onuachu as the ideal focal point for a refreshed attack capable of challenging for domestic honours next season.
Standing at 2.01 metres, the striker has caused constant problems for defenders throughout the campaign. His ability to dominate in the air, hold up possession and bring teammates into attacking positions has added a different dimension to Trabzonspor’s forward play.
Fenerbahçe believe those qualities could transform their own attack. Despite controlling possession in many big matches this season, they often struggled to convert chances into goals. Onuachu’s physical presence and penalty-box instincts are viewed as the missing ingredient.
Trabzonspor, however, face a difficult decision. The proposed package would bring both financial profit and additional squad depth only a year after signing the Nigerian permanently. Yet allowing one of their most important players to join a fierce domestic rival could prove unpopular with supporters.
Saudi Arabian clubs are also monitoring the situation closely, while Fenerbahçe are keeping alternative options open.
Barcelona forward Robert Lewandowski has reportedly been discussed internally in case the move for Onuachu fails. However, the Super Eagles striker remains Fenerbahçe’s leading target as they prepare for another push at the Turkish title.
