Udinese manager Kosta Rujanic singled out Super Eagles prospect Kingsley Ehizibue for praise after the exciting left-back’s standout display to help the team secure a crucial 2-0 victory over Torino in Serie A on Saturday, Footynaija.com reports.

Ehizibue capped an impressive outing at the Bluenergy Stadium with a vital goal during first half stoppage-time to give Udinese the lead after VAR initially ruled Nicolo Zaniolo’s 22nd minute effort out for offside.

Thomas Kristensen then doubled the home side’s advantage just six minutes after the restart as he rose highest to guide Lenon Miller’s corner kick into the net, sealing a return to winning ways for the White and Blacks from Udine.

Udinese fans reacted to Ehizibue’s goal, his second in back-to-back games, with a rapturous round of applause and Rujanic agreed that it was a fitting recognition for a man in fine form while speaking after the match.

Ehizibue deserved to be celebrated: Rujanic

“We are at the end of the season and we are seeing the development of players like Ehizibue, Kamara, Ekkelenkamp, and many others. We are satisfied with this,” the Udinese boss said, according to quotes on the club’s official website.

“Ehizibue was rightly celebrated today by the fans, who recognized his performances and his work to improve. It was a wonderful moment.”

Another Nigerian, Maduka Okoye, played a significant role in the outcome of yesterday’s encounter as the Super Eagles goalkeeper prevented Torino from converting a big chance that could’ve changed the trajectory of the game early on. He also kept his ninth clean sheet of the season.

Courtesy of the win, Udinese moved up into the top half of the Serie A table, currently placing tenth with 47 points from 35 games. With three games to go, Rujanic’s charges will be aiming to finish in the top half for the first time in 13 years.
