Fulham manager Marco Silva has provided an update on the potential availability of Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi for the Cottagers’ upcoming trip to Arsenal’s Emirates stadium this weekend, Footynaija.com reports.
Iwobi has been confined to the treatment table since suffering a hamstring injury in that entertaining London derby draw between Fulham and Brentford at the G-tech Community Stadium almost two weeks ago.
As a result, the Nigeria international missed last weekend’s hard-fought 1-0 win over Aston Villa at Craven Cottage, with Ryan Sessegnon’s late first half strike settling that particular encounter and ending Fulham’s six game Premier League losing streak against the Villans.
Providing a general fitness update on his squad ahead of the trip to North London, Fulham boss Silva revealed that Iwobi remains unable to contribute for the Cottagers and is consequently ruled out of this weekend’s clash.

“Alex [Iwobi] is out still, plus Kevin. Kenny [Tete], we will have to see how he reacts from the last two sessions. He can probably be involved in the game,” Silva said, via Fulham’s official website.
“We have some doubts about some players, but we will assess them tomorrow to see how they react from things that happened in the week.”
Prior to his injury, Iwobi was an ever-present for Marco Silva’s side in the Premier League, starting in all of his 27 appearances so far. Aside from last weekend’s victory over Villa, his only other missed games came as a result of his participation in the Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria.
Fulham will definitely miss Iwobi’s creativity and work-rate this weekend as they look to potentially create another twist in the tale of this season’s Premier League title race by getting a positive result against the Gunners.
