Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk had an encouraging update on the recovery of Super Eagles talismanic striker Victor Osimhen, following his side’s comfortable 3-1 Super Lig win over Gotzepe on Wednesday, Footynaija.com reports.
Recall that Osimhen fractured his forearm after clattering into Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate during a UEFA Champions League encounter and has since been on the sidelines after undergoing surgery to correct the injury.
While working his way back to full recovery, the Super Eagles striker has missed four matches for club and country, including Galatasaray’s narrow defeat to Istanbul rivals Trabzonspor last weekend.
After watching his side bounce back from that Istanbul derby defeat, with victory over Gotzepe at the Gursel Aksel Stadyumu, Buruk revealed that his star striker is edging closer to a return from the sidelines, although this weekend’s clash against Kocaelispor will come too soon.

“Osimhen has started running again,” Buruk declared, per quotes revealed by Complete Sports.
“It will be difficult for him to return this weekend, but I think he could be included in the squad for the Gençlerbirliği match we’ll play the following week if conditions are right.
“We might even skip that and consider using him in the Fenerbahçe match instead.”
Osimhen has arguably been Galatasaray’s best player this season when fit and available. The Nigeria international currently boasts the highest number of goal contributions within the ranks of the Super Lig champions despite enduring a stop-start campaign due to injury setbacks.
The Lions will be eager to have him back for the final stretch of the season as they look to ward off competition from Fenerbahce and successfully defend their Super Lig crown.
