Nigeria have handed a first senior call-up to Emmanuel Fernandez, with the Super Eagles moving swiftly to secure the services of the in-form defender following an impressive spell in Scotland, Footynaija reports.
The 24-year-old Rangers defender has been informed he will be part of the squad for this month’s international fixtures, as per Ibrox News.
His inclusion marks a significant step in a career that has developed rapidly over the past year, transforming him from a relatively low-profile player into a strong contender for a place in Nigeria’s defence.
Since joining Rangers from Peterborough United, Fernandez has quickly established himself as a key figure. His performances reached a high point in January, when he was named the club’s Player of the Month after a series of commanding displays.
