Nigeria’s planned international friendly against Jordan will now take place in Turkey after organisers moved the four-nation tournament away from the Middle East, Footynaija reports.

The competition had initially been scheduled to hold in the Jordanian capital, Amman, during the March international break. However, the Jordan Football Association confirmed that the event has been relocated to the Turkish city of Antalya because of the current political climate in the region and concerns about travel restrictions.

Officials said the decision was taken to ensure that teams, staff and supporters can move freely and that the matches can be staged without disruption. Antalya, one of Turkey’s best-known sporting and tourism hubs, was selected as the replacement venue and will host all the fixtures of the tournament.

The four national teams set to take part in the event are Nigeria, Jordan, Iran, and Costa Rica.

According to the revised schedule, Jordan will open the tournament against Costa Rica on Friday, 27 March. Later the same day, Iran will face Nigeria. The second round of fixtures will follow on Tuesday, 31 March, when the Super Eagles meet Jordan while Iran take on Costa Rica.

Head coach Eric Chelle is expected to use the games to assess players and experiment with his tactical options. Friendly tournaments such as this one often allow managers to give opportunities to emerging talents while maintaining the core of the squad.

The fixtures also arrive only months after Nigeria’s bronze-medal finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, and the coaching staff will see the Antalya trip as another step in preparing the team for future competitive assignments.

Jordan, meanwhile, are using the tournament as part of their build-up to a historic appearance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Middle Eastern side will make their debut at the global tournament and have been drawn into a challenging group alongside Argentina, Algeria, and Austria.
