Frank Lampard’s Coventry City are reportedly interested in exciting Nigerian attacker Prosper Obah, who has been a revelation in Ukraine, Footynaija reports.

Coventry are the latest English club to turn their attention to the young Nigerian attacker making waves in Eastern Europe.

Aside from Coventry City, scouts from Middlesbrough and Southampton have all been following the progress of 22-year-old Obah after an impressive run of form with LNZ Cherkasy and FC Shakhtar Donetsk.

According to transfer insider Ekrem Konur, representatives from the three clubs have attended several matches this season to watch the Nigerian closely. Their reports are said to focus on his pace, physical presence and ability to adapt across multiple attacking roles.

Although Obah’s primary position is on the wing, he has shown he can be used on either flank and also in more central attacking areas. Coaches value his direct style, quick bursts of acceleration and willingness to take on defenders in one-on-one situations.

Those qualities have helped him produce strong numbers this season. In just 20 appearances, the forward has been directly involved in 12 goals, scoring eight times and providing four assists. Such output has strengthened his growing reputation as one of the most exciting young Nigerian attackers currently playing in Europe.

Interest is not limited to England. Teams in Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands are also believed to be monitoring the situation as the campaign progresses.

Shakhtar only signed Obah in January 2026 from Ukrainian side LNZ Cherkasy on a long-term contract running until 2030. The club view him as a valuable long-term asset, but any serious transfer approach could test their resolve. Early estimates suggest a potential deal could fall between €15 million and €20 million (approx ₦31.8bn).

Obah’s rise began in Umuahia in southeastern Nigeria, where he was born in November 2003. After playing grassroots football, he joined the academy of Supreme Kings before taking his first step into European football with FC Vizela in Portugal in 2022.

He eventually broke into Vizela’s senior team and made 32 league appearances, scoring five goals. A move to LNZ Cherkasy followed, where he scored seven times in 15 league matches, form that persuaded Shakhtar to secure his signature.

With his speed, close control and eye for goal continuing to develop, Obah’s rapid rise suggests that a move to English football may not be far away if his progress continues.
