Liverpool manager Arne Slot has singled out Victor Osimhen as one of the main threats his side must contain when they face Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, Footynaija reports.
Speaking before the knockout fixture, the Dutch coach admitted that the Nigerian striker’s all-round attacking ability makes him particularly difficult to defend against. Slot noted that Galatasaray possess several dangerous attacking players but believes their quick transitions and speed in forward areas are especially dangerous.

“I believe Galatasaray has many strong players, but their ability to move the ball quickly is definitely one of their biggest strengths,” Slot told Liverpool’s official website.
“Of course, one of the first players that comes to mind is Victor Osimhen, who is also a very good striker.
“He can score from crosses, he can score in different ways, but he is definitely a big danger when the team starts a quick counter-attack.”
The Liverpool boss also stressed that Osimhen becomes even more dangerous when attacking space in and around the penalty area.
“Osimhen can be a danger to Liverpool when he is in the box and during quick attacks,” he added.
However, Slot warned that focusing only on the Super Eagles forward would be a mistake. According to him, Galatasaray have several quick attackers capable of causing problems.

“But they have more than just Osimhen in their front line who are all really quick.
“In our last game against them, Baris Alper Yilmaz was a problem for us because he was a bit too quick twice in the first half.
“Both times he was heading towards the goalkeeper.”
The last meeting between the two sides came during the Champions League league phase on 30 September 2025 at RAMS Park in Istanbul. On that occasion, Osimhen proved decisive, converting a 16th-minute penalty that secured a 1-0 victory for the Turkish champions.
The Nigerian forward has continued to impress in Europe this season and has already scored seven goals in the competition, underlining why Liverpool are preparing carefully for the challenge he poses.
